Perhaps the newest piece of technology
at ShoeTech was that being shown by Digitoe. Under this program
custom fit lasts created using 3D CAD/CAM will be produced so
that computer generated parts can be made to fit those lasts.
The company was demonstrating the procedures to collect the shape
of the foot by using video cameras which passes the information
to a computer where it is digitized. This information is then
translated into a last on which shoes are made. The theory is
to make custom made shoes in hours. The company had on display
a collection made by such a process. |
